Ankita is a passionate content writer currently working in CollegeDekho.com. She started her journey as an academic content writer and wishes to learn and grow in this particular field of interest. She graduated with a Journalism honours degree from Calcutta University. She always wanted to make writing a part of her day to day life, thus beginning her journey as a content writer.
She considers herself a movie buff and holds immense knowledge about movies and TV series all over the world. As a part of her studies in college, she learned about cinema and its history, delving into the deepest and most intricate details about films. From studying Goddard to Scorsese, she now feels connected greatly with each and every aspect of films.
Being an introvert all her life, she found solace in watching movies and TV Series. Growing up her favorites included Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. From reading the books to watching the movies she felt comfortable losing herself in the fantasy world. This also encouraged her to write fan-fiction and theories during her teenage years. Her other likes from the fantasy genre include the Divergent series, Game of Thrones, Percy Jackson and much more. So do not get startled if she starts a conversation based on these, because as an introvert starting conversations with new people is difficult, and this works as her ice-breaker.
Other than her love for movies and TV series, she also is a huge fan of heavy metal and rock music. From Nirvana to AC/DC, she can talk about it all day and not get bored. She also loves binging on thriller novels and short stories, which also acted as a building block for writing journey. She also wrote scripts during her college years for the practicals of Film Studies and Journalism. In a team of four, during practicals, she was always given the responsibility of writing the synopsis, character backgrounds, themes, backdrop, description of the sets (indoor/outdoor) and a write up of the narrative - one in a story version and another in a script version. Therefore writing has always been a huge part of her life, occupying most of her productive time.
Growing up as a shy person, she thought of using her writing skills to move forward in her career. Whereas most of her journalism classmates went on to become anchors, news presenters, conducting interviews and hosting seminars, her fear of being in front of all the action restricted her from pursuing journalism as a professional career. So she thought of the next best thing where she could stay behind the wall and express her works through writings; as a content writer.
Before being a part of CollegeDekho.com she worked as an entertainment writer intern for a rapidly developing website, known for covering lifestyle topics and stories. Her content there mostly included writing about actor biographies or stories about upcoming movies and even listicles. She also sometimes wrote about business and culture.
But entertainment was not her first exposure to writing, professionally. She started as an academic content writer, writing, editing and uploading content based on educational institutions. She had 2 years of experience in writing academic content. Her work mostly included answering questions like explaining an institute’s infrastructure, facilities, placements and even comparisons with other similar institutions as well. Her journalistic training of researching things came as a huge help, and eventually made her better at her work. She even guided a team of freelancers of 4-5 members, whose works she edited and published on the website.
To gather enough knowledge and better opportunities in the academic field, she decided to join CollegeDekho. She is extremely grateful to the team for giving her the opportunity to spread her work among everybody.
She hopes to work hard with enough dedication, to become a valued member of the company. She wishes to learn a lot as a writer in CollegeDekho and feels really happy to be a part of such an esteemed organization. She is thankful to the CollegeDekho team who welcomed her warmly to be a part of their family.
