GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025 has been released in online mode by IIT Roorkee on its official website. The GATE 2025 eligibility criteria include the requirements related to academic qualifications, pass percentage, age limit, etc. which applicants must meet to be eligible for the GATE 2025 exam. Candidates must possess a Graduation/Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or a master's degree in Science to fulfill the GATE eligibility criteria 2025. There is no age limit to apply for the GATE 2025 exam. If an applicant fails to meet any of the given GATE eligibility criteria 2025, he/she is not eligible to appear for the exam or admission process. Educational qualification is one of the important factors of the GATE 2025 eligibility criteria. There is no age limit in the GATE 2025 exam. Candidates of any age can apply for the GATE exam. There is no minimum or maximum GATE age limit 2025. This means that candidates of any age can take the exam as long as they match the qualifying requirements established by the GATE exam.

  • Candidates who are still pursuing or have obtained a degree from countries except India in technology or engineering (at least four years) can apply. Final-year candidates can also apply for GATE 2025

Important Note: Candidates who are pursuing or have obtained a higher degree other than the courses mentioned above must select the minimum qualifying degree while filling out the application form for GATE 2025.

GATE Eligibility For M.Tech

Candidates who pass the GATE 2025 exam will be able to take admission to M.Tech courses ar various IITs, NITs, IIITs, and selected CFTIs. It is important to remember that there will be no GATE-specific counselling process.

Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech courses at IITs must first register for GATE 2025 through COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal). This process is carried out independently, and candidates must follow the instructions. There are a total of 10 rounds of COAP counselling. 5 Main rounds and 5 additional rounds counselling. 

Candidates wishing to enroll in M.Tech programs at NITs, IIITs, and some CFTIs must apply through the Centralized Counselling for M.Tech 2025 (CCMT) process. CCMT counselling is held in various rounds followed by a special round. 

GATE-qualified candidates can gain admission to their selected M.Tech degrees at top institutions across India by understanding and following these respective counselling processes.

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025 – Documents Required

The applicants must submit the following documents to support their GATE 2025 eligibility claims:

  • If a candidate has completed one of the qualifying examinations as mentioned in the table above or earlier, then he/she has to submit the degree certificate/provisional degree certificate/course completion certificate/membership certificate as issued by the society or institute.

  • If the candidate is expected to complete one of the qualifying norms in 2025 or later as mentioned in the table above, then he/she had to upload their Provisional Certificate Letter (as issued by the Head of the Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department) or a copy of marks card for Section A of AMIE, etc.

  • All the documents have to be uploaded only while filling out the online application. It does not have to be sent by post.

  • Candidates with backlogs (failed subjects) in any of the subjects in their qualifying examination had to upload a copy of any of the mark sheets of the final year issued from the institute where he/she was studying.

Is there any change in the GATE 2025 Eligibility Criteria?

The eligibility criteria for GATE 2025 remain the same for the upcoming academic year. As per the GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025 laid down by the conducting body, candidates currently pursuing the 3rd year of graduation degree or higher years, as well as those who have completed a degree in Science/Technology/Architecture/Engineering/Humanities from a government recognized university are qualified to sit for the GATE 2025 Examination.

GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025 For Non-Indian Universities Candidates

Candidates who have acquired or are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India will be subject to the following GATE exam eligibility criteria 2025:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology: Candidates must have completed or be in the final year of their Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology. The course should last at least four years.
  • Postgraduate Degree in Relevant Science Subjects: Candidates must have finished or been in the last year of a postgraduate degree in one or more relevant science subjects. The duration of the postgraduate degree should be at least two years.
